Peter Zed
Peter holds an Honours degree in Forestry from ANU and has worked within the timber industry for over 40 years. His involvement has ranged from plantation development to forest product manufacturing in roles as diverse as R&D scientist to Chief Executive.
For the past 6 years he has managed his own consulting business (Omega Consulting) successfully completing over 70 projects for more than 35 clients. He has previously been the CEO of Allied Timber Products, Group Operations General Manager for Weyerhaeuser Australia, State and group General Manager for CSR Timber Products and Softwood Holdings, as well as holding senior executive forestry positions with both the Fiji Pine Commission and the SA Government.
His recent consultancy work has focused on strategic planning, operational restructuring, business development, forest utilisation, silvicultural management, forest and forest product valuations, forest product manufacturing, operational rationalisation and efficiency, logistics, market development and R&D.
He has recently worked on a number of mergers and acquisitions which included due diligence on forest assets of Forest Plantations Qld, ForestrySA and Gunns Forests and the sawmilling and distribution assets of FEA and Gunns. He has also undertaken structural reviews of a number of forest regions to assist in the development of future resource utilisation plans.
Peter has served on a large number of timber industry boards including FWPA, FWPRDC, Timber Qld, QTB, TRADAC, PTAA, NAFI and The Gottstein Trust. He has also served on the advisory committees for CSIRO and DPI NSW.
