Bernard Fitzpatrick

Bernard has been involved extensively within the spatial information sector over the last 24 years including the areas of traditional cartography, GIS and remote sensing. He has been involved with the application of spatial technologies, primarily remote sensing to the natural resources and primary production sectors in Australia, and has undertaken project work in Papua New Guinea, and South East Asia.

Between 1980 and 1985, Bernard worked within the Queensland Public Sector in various cartographic related jobs undertaking survey plan compilation and drafting, and Standard State map compilation and revision (cadastral and topographic). During 1985 he commenced work in the Queensland Government's Sunmap Remote Sensing Centre being involved with various remote sensing projects. Between 1989 and 1993 he worked under contract with the Conservation Commission of the Northern Territory to manage research and development projects investigating and developing remote sensing applications with respect land cover and change detection.

In 1993, Bernard established and managed the Darwin Office of Geoimage Pty Ltd, a leading Australian remote sensing data sales and image processing consulting company. Relocating to Geoimage's Brisbane's office in 1998 he took up the role of managing the company's marketing and natural resource consulting services. In January 2004 he established Spatial 3i Pty Ltd a spatial consulting company specialising in the application of remote sensing technology.
